Campo Restaurant - Reno, NV

NO DAMN DESIGN AWARDS!!

When we started almost 2 years ago to plan Campo i had a set of plans from a friend who had looked at the space before me. Thank you to Colin Smith, an amazing chef and better friend! The name on the bottom of the plans was Larry Henry Architecture, so being that i was looking to do this on a budget, i figured i would go right to the person who was familiar with the space. Well, i often say i would rather be lucky than good, and i got both when i met Larry. The vision he created, the way he listened to my ideas and morphed what was my vision into an amazing space filled with many many details still amazes me everyday. We took a 1 day trip to SF, we had some great meetings, we had lots of conversation and every time Larry just came up with the best possible solution. I am sure at times, he was frustrated with me, but he trudged forward! the is something to be said when i walked in and said “i don’t want to win any damn design awards” To this day, he still busts me on that! I feel like i made a great friend through this process and had alot of fun along the way. We may never win any awards, and i know Larry does not care about that, but even better than awards is the way Campo makes people feel, the customers, the employees and all who walk in are really happy with what he created!

I REVIEWED YOUR WEBSITE, AND WHAT I READ. IT SOUND LIKE YOU MAY HAVE CREATED MY HOME FOR AN ITALIAN RESTURANT. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO TESTING YOU OUT.

You have done an amazing job with your branding, atmosphere, and menu. This level of effort isn’t common in Reno and it’s something to be celebrated; my hat (though I don’t typically fancy one) is off to you. I look forward to many future visits to your busy restaurant.

Just want to say that we paid our first (of many) visits to Campo last night, in celebration of our 10th anniversary. It was an excellent choice for such an occasion! In between our repeated “oh wows” and “yums” over the food, we took time to observe the decor/atmosphere/design, and it was our consensus that it is just right. The dining room is warm, welcoming, and comfortable. The food is simply fantastic, so what you have is fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere, and it all works together perfectly. Just the right combination for Reno, we feel, and a wonderful addition to the downtown scene. We love it!
